Sineklista Bike-in Cinema is inviting cyclists to watch films “Pauwi Na” by Paolo Villaluna and Vittorio De Sica’s “Bicycle Thieves” on November 27 at Rizal (Luneta) Park’s Open Air Auditorium. Gates will open at 2pm. This is the kick-off film screening event of Bisikleta Film Festival – Pilipinas 2022.

It’s been a while since many of us have watched movies on the big screen. Select cinemas have opened in the country but since we’re still in the pandemic, outdoor film screenings like Sineklista are more ideal and safer.

The event features Paolo Villaluna’s “Pauwi Na.” It’s a compelling story of a family traveling from Metro Manila to their home province using a pedicab. Starring Bembol Roco and Cherry Pie Picache, the film was first screened at Tofarm Film Festival in 2016 and has won various accolades including the Golden Goblet at the Shanghai Film Festival. The movie was inspired by a real life story.

Academy award-winning film “Bicycle Thieves” will also be shown. The 1948 film by Italian director Vittorio De Sica is considered as one of the greatest movies of all time. It’s about a poor father and son looking for the patriarch’s stolen bicycle in Rome.

According to Criterion, the film “embodies the greatest strengths of the Italian neorealist movement: emotional clarity, social rectitude, and brutal honesty.”
