Hotel 101 promotes cycling as part of its initiatives towards sustainability

Hotel 101 Manila, Jinjiang Inn Ortigas and Jinjiang Inn Makati will treat cyclists free coffee every weekend from 6am to 12 noon for the entire year. Bikers can avail it at the hotel's restaurant brand Horizon Cafe.

As part of its mission of promoting sustainability, Hotel 101 group empowers cycling in the Philippines through its initiatives of accommodating bicycles and cyclists to its hotels. Among their steps are installing secured bike parking for guests and employees and organizing bike-related activities.

Hotel 101 group, in partnership with First Bike Ride and cycling groups Meet and Ride and Everyday Cyclist PH, hosted around 50 cyclists on a tour around Metro Manila called “101 Bike Route” last June 29.

The cyclists biked in Pasig, Taguig, Makati and Manila. The trip started in Jinjiang Inn – Ortigas. The first pit stop was Jinjiang Inn – Makati followed by a visit to Intramuros’ Fort Santiago where they met with representatives from the Department of Tourism. The tour ended at Hotel 101 Manila.

The Philippines saw an increase of cyclists during the pandemic and even when the government eased the quarantine restrictions, the activity has never died down. More Filipinos have managed to sustain biking as their leisure activity or mode of transport. Because of the popularity of cycling, bike tourism is also expected to become a thing in the country.

According to Gel Gomez, Hotel 101 General Manager, their group recognizes the benefits of cycling for one’s health and for the environment. They want Hotel 101 to encourage more Filipinos to cycle by making their establishments more accommodating to bicycles.

During the 101 Bike Route, Gomez highlighted that employees of Hotel 101 and Jinjiang Inns who bike to work joined the activity. Their commitment to cyclists are not only exclusive to guests but also to their staff who cycle.

Aside from launching its new bike racks, the group also announced that Hotel 101 Manila, Jinjiang Inn Ortigas and Jinjiang Inn Makati will treat cyclists free coffee every weekend from 6am to 12 noon for the entire year. Bikers can avail it at the hotel’s restaurant brand Horizon Cafe.

Broadcast journalist Gretchen Ho graced 101 Bike Route and said that she’s grateful for the sustainability initiatives of Hotel 101. As a member of the media, she promised that she’ll do her part in using her platform to promote cycling.

Hotel 101 Manila is located along EDSA Extension. Jinjiang Inn in Makati is on Antonio Arnaiz Avenue while Jinjiang Inn Ortigas is found along San Miguel Avenue.
