If you’re craving a delicious Cansi, an Ilongo soup dish that’s usually described as a “crossover of bulalo and sinigang,” the place to go is Horizon Cafe at Jinjiang Inn – Ortigas.
Horizon Cafe recently opened a few weeks ago and First Bike Ride was invited to attend its launch. We were treated with the best dishes that this restaurant can offer – there’s Five Spice Chicken, Peking Style Pork , Yang Chow Fried Rice, Beef Kare-Kare, Radish Cake, Pomelo Shrimp and Pork Siomai, among others.
We enjoyed the selection, but among all of these dishes, the most memorable is probably the Horizon Cansi. The sourness is perfect for our taste buds and the meat is very soft. Its soup takes us back to Iloilo and makes us reminisce about our previous travels in this beautiful province.
The cafe offers a contemporary version of Filipino and other Asian food. And it’s not just exclusive to those who are billeted in Jinjiang Inn, anyone can enjoy the Horizon’s dishes.
It is located at San Miguel Avenue corner Lourdes Street in Ortigas Center, Pasig. And if you’re biking there, they have a very convenient bike rack that is well guarded by the hotel’s security. The staff were nice too because many of them cycle to work. We actually met one employee, Kuya Rico, who follows First Bike Ride.
As cyclists going around the area of Ortigas, we should say that it is pretty difficult to find a good place with excellent food that has a comfortable environment. Of course, bikers’ consideration is parking for their bicycles so Horizon Cafe and Jinjiang Inn offers all of what we’re looking for.
