Dean & DeLuca is the go-to breakfast place in Quezon City’s Scout area

I like hanging out in the Scout area of Quezon City every morning because it is calm and relaxing. A few good laps around nearby ABS-CBN can already boost one’s mood for the day.

Despite the many restaurants and coffee shops around Tomas Morato and Timog, it’s pretty difficult to find a decent place that’s bike-friendly and has good food and drinks. Well, the best that I can recommend is Dean & DeLuca.

I’m a fan of D&D in Rockwell — I usually hangout there with friends from university during the Christmas season because we associate its Hokkaido Cheesecake with the holidays. That’s why, as someone who lives in Sampaloc, I was really glad in 2019 when I learned that a branch in Scout Rallos will open.

It was only mid-last year when we finally tried dining in at the new store, and I was already into biking. During my first visit, I attempted to bring my bicycle inside. I asked if I could park it beside my table in the al fresco dining area because I was uncomfortable leaving it outside. They declined my request.

The staff directed me to their bike rack located in front of the store. There’s a security guard assigned near the bicycle parking so in a way, I felt assured that my ride is safe. Plus, if you eat al fresco, it’s easy to check your two-wheel ride from your seat.

What’s awesome about Dean & DeLuca is the refreshing outdoor dining experience. You see, I really try to avoid eating indoors and in Tomas Morato, it’s quite hard to find a cafe that has nice alfresco seats.

So what do I usually order during the morning? I’m usually a light eater so I only prefer black coffee and a croissant. But if I want it heavy, I’d go for the Dean & DeLuca Big Breakfast. If you’re not into caffeine, I suggest ordering the “Green Detox” from its Probiotic Yoghurt Smoothies.

I also like going there for lunch with friends and colleagues. For starters, I recommend the Umami Fried Chicken and Crispy Calamari. I particularly like the El Chaparrito pizza and the New York Burger. A friend who is vegetarian usually orders the Green Goddess Pesto.

Dean & DeLuca might be expensive but I believe that you get your money’s worth. The staff is accommodating too. But among everything that we mentioned, we really like the vibe of the place, especially on an early morning weekday. But I have to note, the restaurant can get packed with people during lunch and dinner.

Dean & Deluca in Quezon City is located at 45 Scout Rallos Street. It’s open daily from 7am to 10pm.
