Rock band Urbandub will headline a fundraising gig to help cycling group Team ABC in their journey to the inaugural UCI Gravel World Championships in Italy’s Veneto region. The concert will be on June 21, 7pm, at The ‘70s Bistro in Quezon City.
Team ABC is the combination of the UCI Gravel World Championship qualifiers from two Filipino cycling groups Built Cycles and Dirtysouth Multisport. They’re composed of Binz Angeles, Neil Claves, Ajok Jacobe, Vincent Palisoc, Chuck Ronquillo and Josh Suma.
The fundraising gig ticket is priced at 700 pesos. Aside from Urbandub, the band Soundcheckers will also perform. The ’70s Bistro is located at Anonas, Quezon City.
Being qualified for the UCI Gravel World Championships is not an easy feat. Last April 3, the first series of the UCI Gravel World Series happened in Bongabon, Nueva Ecija and only the top 25% athletes from each category were qualified to advance and compete in Italy.
It’s definitely an honor that the Philippines will get to be represented in the global stage of cycling. And it’s definitely a big one. After all, it’s the UCI who’s organizing the race. That’s why we’re excited with the Filipino cyclists of Team ABC. However, qualifying is just the beginning, expenses for the competition is another hurdle.
That’s why many supporters are raising funds for Team ABC. There’s an ongoing fundraising raffle of Blocks Lo-Fi frameset. One entry costs 500 pesos and the winner will get to choose the frame’s size and color (digital blue or sunset teal).
To enter the raffle, send payment via Gcash to Biljay Angeles (09277091623) and direct message the transaction receipt to Team ABC’s Instagram account (@team.abc.cycling). Try your luck, there really are winners in games like this.
The fundraising raffle will end on June 20. The raffle draw will happen during the gig at The ‘70s bistro and it will also be streamed live on Team ABC’s Instagram account.
