This biker takes eleven-day Luzon loop journey to raise money for cancer patients

Binz is currently on a Luzon loop bike adventure in his mission called “The Journey of Hope.” It aims to raise money to help people with cancer.

When he was asked, “Ano ba ang mapapala mo sa kaka-bike mo na ‘yan?” (What will you gain in biking?), ultra-distance cyclist Binz Angeles thought that maybe he can put his biking adventure to raise awareness and help others who are in need.

“Pangarap ko talagang makatulong sa paraan na passionate ako. Then nainspire kasi ako sa isang tao na gumawa ng ride for a cause noong 2016. (It is) for Baby Johann, who is suffering from Biliary Atresia, a rare disease of the liver that occurs in infants,” Binz told First Bike Ride. “Then mas nag-on fire pa ‘yung passion ko nung may isang tao nagtanong sakin ‘Ano bang mapapala mo dyan sa kaka-bike or kakaride mo na yan?’”

(It has been my dream to help others through something I’m passionate about. Then I was inspired when someone did a ride for a cause in 2016. It’s for Baby Johann who is suffering from Biliary Atresia, a rare disease of the liver that occurs in infants. Then the passion fired up when someone challenged me on what I gain from biking.)

He then told himself, “Abangan mo lang at makikita mo, magiging mas makabuluhan ‘tong ride ko next time.”

(Wait and you’ll see that my rides will be meaningful next time.)

Binz is currently on a Luzon loop bike adventure in his mission called “The Journey of Hope.” It aims to raise money to help people with cancer. The beneficiaries are patients who are volunteers of Victory Fort Bonifacio, a Christian Church in Taguig. The cyclist is part of this religious organization.

He started his adventure last December 20 at the Kilometer Zero marker located in Rizal Park, Manila. As of this writing, he updated via his social media that he’s currently in Tuguegarao. He has already covered 504 kilometers in two days. His Luzon loop adventure will end on the last day of the year.

The ultra-distance cyclist has already done this route years ago with friends. But this time, he’s taking the adventure alone and with some added twist compared with the usual Luzon loop that Filipino bikers take.
