SGD Coffee in Maginhawa upgrades to bike-friendly

Even before the pandemic, we’ve been frequenting coffee shop SGD Coffee Bodega located in Maginhawa Village’s Maaalalahanin Street in Quezon City because of its awesome coffee. But back then, we enjoyed dining inside the store.

Now that we’re in a pandemic, we prefer al fresco dining because we avoid places where we can contact the virus, especially that it can spread by aerosols. We still go to this coffee shop but we ask the staff if we can stay in its smoking area located at the store’s backyard just to have our food and drinks.

So it was a surprise when we visited last week and saw that its backyard is filled with chairs and tables. Guests can now comfortably have a dining experience outdoors.

Apparently, the store’s set up is just new—not even a month old, the staff told us.

But what’s more amazing, something that we didn’t know existed even before was that cyclists can park their bicycles at SGD’s garage. A simple request from the crew and one can be given access to the parking space.

Aside from the new al fresco arrangement, they also installed a bike rack which makes it convenient for cyclists to park their bikes.

We usually order its SGD Black because of its richness and we liked how strong it is, good enough to wake us up.

But among everything else, it’s because their coffee takes us back to the Cordilleras—we love it that hot SGD Black is served on a transparent glass just like how the locals of the north do it.

For the food, we highly recommend its sandwiches. The chicken pesto is really satisfying while the ELT (etag, lettuce and tomatoes) is good too.

Etag is pork that’s traditionally preserved in the Cordilleras. It is fried and cut in bits for the sandwich. If it’s possible, we’re willing to pay extra for additional meat.

Here’s a good outdoor breakfast place in Quezon City that provides incredible coffee and secured bike parking.

The fries can still improve, though. Order the revel bar too, it’s worth it.

It’s awesome that they made outdoor dining an option for their customers but the best and most welcomed improvement is its turn to becoming more bike-friendly. Like what we always say, bicycles bring good business and SGD Bodega has made a good move.
